Overview
Two filmmakers and storytellers, Nnamdi Kanaga and 2026 Tinworks artist Edgar Arceneaux, sit down to explore what it means to perform the West. Kanaga, who made his directorial debut in Montana with the all-Black-lead feature The Hail Mary, and Arceneaux, whose wide-ranging work spans drawing, installation, film, and theater — including The Western Auditions, centered on the lives of Samuel and Edmonia Lewis — will explore how artists from outside dominant narratives claim space on stage and screen, and reimagine who gets to tell the story of the American West.
In Conversation
Tinworks Art: In Conversation are ticketed evening events, open to the public, hosted at the Rialto Theater in downtown Bozeman. Tinworks Art is an artist- and community- centered nonprofit organization and art space that contributes to the cultural and social fabric of greater Bozeman by supporting inclusive and immersive contemporary art experiences for artists and audiences in non-traditional spaces, where art meets the American West.
