ART CAMP FOR KIDS

Tinworks welcomes young artists to explore the world of art through all of their senses with Tinworks Art camps for kids!

Art is an integral part of building a healthy, enriched, and creative community, and we are excited to contribute to the expanding artistic horizons of Bozeman.

This summer, we are offering week-long morning camps for 1st through 8th graders.

Kids will partake in art-making sessions with professional art educators, learn about our 2024 exhibition, and showcase the art they make. Activities will include painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, fiber, storytelling, photography, and movement-based projects inspired by the themes of our Tinworks' exhibition. Art camp is both inspiring and educational!

See below and follow the links for more detail on our three camp offerings.

CAMP 1: Food & Farming

1st through 3rd graders
JUNE 24-28, 9AM-noon

This week campers ages six to eight (1st through 3rd graders this fall) will create multi-media based art projects and engage in activities exploring the themes of local agriculture, sustainability, plant growth, food, nutrition, seeds, and soil. We'll also be touring the 2024 Tinworks Art exhibition which focuses on these same topics, and we will learn and talk about the artists whose work is in the show. Kids will create work in a variety of different art mediums and materials, as well as put on a mini-show for families at the end of their week of morning art-making.

CAMP 2: Land Art

4th and 5th graders
JULY 22-26, 9AM-NOON

The Land Art movement is the inspiration this week for campers to learn all about our local landscape, land use, geology, topography, and natural resources. Campers ages nine and ten (4th and 5th graders this fall) are invited to explore natural art materials and engage with our environment through a variety of multi-media based art projects and activities, as well as tour and discuss the 2024 Tinworks Art exhibition which features several artists working within the themes of land and land use. Families are invited to join us for an art show of their work created the final morning of camp.

CAMP 3: Perspective

6th through 8th graders
AUGUST 12-16, 9AM-NOON

Get up-close and spy on the world from above exploring different perspectives this week at art camp! Teens (6th through 8th graders in fall) will learn techniques to portray different points of view, study topography and geography, look at maps and navigation, and create 3D and optical illusion art. Projects and activities will include drawing, comics, painting, sculpture, photography, physical movement, and performance art. Focus will be paid to artists in the Tinworks exhibition working within perspective as we tour the show and learn about their methods of art-making. Shift your perspective with this mind-bending week!
